In the Heart of History: The Women in Theodore Roosevelt’s World
February 14th , 6:00pm – 7:00pm
On February 14, 1884—Valentine’s Day—future US President Theodore Roosevelt marked a somber moment in his diary by placing an X across the page. Below it, a note read “The light has gone out of my life.” This day, typically associated with celebrating love, became a day of mourning for Roosevelt as both his beloved mother and dear wife succumbed to illness within hours of each other. They were laid to rest at Green-Wood in matching rosewood caskets.
Price: $9, $4 for members.
Join Green-Wood on Valentine’s Day 2024, 140th anniversary of their tragic deaths, to hear their poignant stories from Edward F. O’Keefe, Chief Executive Officer of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation, and author of the forthcoming book, The Loves of Theodore Roosevelt: The Women Who Created a President.
